Utilities infrastructure specialist, Falco Construction, has been appointed as a tier-1 contractor for UK Power Networks’ Eastern Network.

The company will provide planned and responsive excavation services to facilitate the repair and development of the underground infrastructure of the nationwide energy distributor which cover Colchester, Purfleet, Lea Valley, Hemel Hempstead, Pinner and Borehamwood.

The award of the 3 year contract, which covers faults, small services and unmetered connections (UMC) works is effective from October 2016 and follows a competitive tendering process. Falco Construction has been successfully providing these services direct to UKPN’s London Power Network (LPN) and Southern Power Network (SPN) since 2012.

“This is another major milestone in the continued growth of Falco Construction,” said Managing Director, Brendan Griffin, “It is an acknowledgement of all the good work we have done to support and collaborate with UKPN over the last 3 years, as well as the significant investments we have made to strengthen and develop our service offering.”

The company has invested heavily in new plant, equipment, labour and supervision to mobilise for the new contract. Over £1 million has been spent increasing Falco’s vehicle and plant fleet, as well as expanding its field resources which now includes over 40 mobile teams operating throughout the South East.

Falco has now worked on UKPN infrastructure for over eleven years initially as a sub-contractor to, among others, Laing O’Rourke and Skanska. The company was awarded tier-1 contractor status in 2012 to provide planned and responsive services in the London area following a competitive tendering and auditing process.
