The successful candidates will have the following tickets along with a valid Driver’s Licence with a BE Category (to allow you to tow your machine)

Senior Supervisor

Reporting to: SPN

Reporting Location: Distributed – Maidstone

Job Description

The role of the Project Supervisor in the Construction and Commissioning Team is to manage complex CDM sites, supervise a team of operatives and manage several other specialist Contractors and Alliance Partners.

The Project Supervisor will manage a CDM site to achieve quality, safety, and time targets set by the Project Engineer or Lead Field Civil Engineer. The Project Supervisor will coordinate and effectively organise site operations as to ensure that projects are delivered with full consideration to safety, and within UK Power Networks standards. The Project Supervisor for project purposes will be responsible to the appropriate project nominated by the Lead Field Civil Engineer
The role will require the Project Supervisor to manage and maintain project documentation and act as the Project Supervisor under the NEC3 Contract.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Delivery of projects to time, quality, cost maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental management.
  • Ensure construction assurance through audits on quality of work, technical competencies, adherence to specifications, compliance with safety and environmental procedures.
  • Produce site delivery plans and ensure adequate provision of direct and contract resources, materials and services to ensure that project programmes are
    maintained.
  • Site manage contractors and civil operatives to ensure that contractual arrangements are met and that cost controls are in place.
  • Provide monthly achievement reports & forecasts
  • Provide input as required into the pre-construction phases of a project
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service
  • Ensure that all workers engaged on the projects / portfolio of projects are fully aware of all safety and environmental requirements.

Main Duties

  • Co-ordinate day to day construction and maintenance activities with Client/ Contractor’s ensuring programmes are met
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and raise Purchase Order request in coordination with Business Support team
  • Change Management – ensure early warning notices and change requests are brought to the attention of the Lead Field Civil Engineer and Project Manager
  • Provide technical support and act as a point of reference for the Construction team
  • Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team/company)
  • Proactively seeking continuous improvement
  • Represent UKPN when required at meetings with clients and contractors
  • When undertaking engineering activities manage the team of employees and contractors for the successful delivery
  • When undertaking engineering activities manage the compliance with all H&S procedures such as Putting People to Work and Distribution Safety Rules

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a civil construction role (Concrete, Rebar, Shuttering, Brickwork, Etc.
  • The role requires a sound background in Primary and Grid Substation and Cable systems and experience of working in a project delivery environment.
  • Holds full driving license
  • Organisational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally they candidate will have an HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • A working knowledge of the safety & environmental regulations relating to construction work in the industry. A safety qualification such as IOSH & CITB SMSTS will be advantageous as will experience of working with the CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and Project) are essential
  • Project Management knowledge would be an advantage
  • Flexible attitude to work and working hours
  • An awareness of the sections business, financial and regulatory obligations
  • Ability to build working relationships with colleagues and other teams within UKPN and also with external partners
  • Ability to work as part of a highly focused team to meet tight deadlines and to work with others to achieve shared goals and optimise the contribution of the team
  • The ability to use own initiative to solve problems, self-motivated with an ambition to achieve
