Falco is proud to have become a ‘company supporter’ of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, the only charity that provides dedicated emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community.

“Males working in the construction and civils sectors are three times more likely to commit suicide than the average UK male so we take our responsibilities towards our staff very seriously,” says Falco’s Director of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Terry McHugh, “By supporting and partnering with organisations like the Lighthouse Club who offer great support & resources to promote good mental health we aim to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, raise awareness of the issues while providing support and pathways to assist those that may be struggling in silence.”

Five of Falco’s management team will attend MHFA mental health first aider refresher training webinars organised by the Lighthouse Club in September while a training programme will be rolled-out to create twelve Wellbeing Champions amongst the company’s operational workforce to equip them to monitor their colleagues and provide support and intervention when needed.

The charity’s Self Support app which provides vital information, advice and guidance on many wellbeing topics including stress, anxiety, depression, anger and suicidal thoughts will also be rolled-out to all employees. The interactive phone app prompts users to assess and record their mood, confidentially monitors these interactions and provides feedback and support when necessary.

The Lighthouse Club was established in 1956 to improve the welfare and wellbeing of our construction community in the UK and Ireland. It has developed a significant portfolio of services to help companies operating in the construction sector to deliver the best possible support to their workforce.

Through the company supporter programme Falco will be able to access the charity’s suite of free Workforce Wellbeing services from a 24/7 Confidential Helpline to a ‘Text HardHat’ service which provides text-back counselling, a downloadable Wellbeing Support App, a series of CPD Accredited seminars and access to Lighthouse Beacons – a network of 160 volunteer centres around the UK and Ireland where workers can drop in to meet likeminded people, socialise and talk.

Falco continues to support another mental health awareness charity, Mates in Mind, through a rolling 3-year sponsorship deal which began in 2019.
