Proceeds from Falco’s annual fuel recharge fund have been donated to an independent charity providing integrated education for preschool children and support for their families.

The fund generated by savings made by using fuel cards reached £750 for the year 2023. This was topped up to one thousand pounds and donated to the Cirencester Opportunity Group which runs an early learning centre in  Gloucestershire that enables children with special needs to play and learn with other pre-school children.

In November 2022 Falco installed flood alleviation measures at the centre in Cirencester as part of its maintenance framework contract with Thames Water. The two-week project involved installing a device known as a FLIP, to prevent the centre from continuously flooding.

“Each year we donate the fuel fund to a good cause and by choosing the Cirencester Opportunity Group it enables us to support an organisation which is close to our hearts,” said Falco’s Operations Director , Tommy O’Rourke

In keeping with Falco’s reputation for customer engagement Tommy composed a short story to help the children at the Centre understand why and how the works were carried out. Inspired by the centre’s logo and featuring three of Falco’s site team as characters in the tale of the Adventures of the Drainage Bears, the short story was read to the children by Centre Manager, Catherine Fowler.

“We are so grateful that Falco have chosen COG as their ‘Christmas Charity’, commented Catherine on the donation, “I’m sure that the donation will help us to continue our vital work with young children and families, especially at this time of year when it can be so difficult for many.

We so enjoyed having the Falco team at COG. They made what could have been quite a stressful piece of work – due to it taking place in our car park, in awful weather – so much easier by their kind consideration of our children and families…and even wrote us a wonderful story to read to the children.”

Tommy and Falco works supervisor Peter Fay  dropped-in to the COG to present the gift and donate 4 teddy bears to the Centre.

Supporting community organisations like the COG are a key part of Falco’s corporate social responsibility commitments. The company currently supports Urban Synergy, the award-winning youth empowerment charity as the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity which charity that provides dedicated emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community.
