
Background
Simon boasts nearly 30 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry with specific emphasis on the utilities and rail sectors.
He joined Falco as Senior Contracts Manager in November 2019 having spent 4 years as in a similar role for Dyer & Butler delivering rail, energy and building contracts, notably the £6.5m IEP North Cotswolds Platform Extensions programme.
After graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering from Greenwich University (ne Thames Polytechnic) in 1998 he started his career at Costain’s civils’ division working his way up to Contracts Manager during ten years at the company before joining Subterra a subsidiary of Thames Water where he was responsible for managing a team of 6 Project Managers delivering various schemes capital projects on the Network North Alliance.
In 2004 Simon enter the rail sector working for Enterprise Rail delivering projects for London Underground’s maintenance framework. As Project Director he managed over 250 direct/indirect staff and he was responsible for full project lifecyles from tendering to planning, operational delivery and close-out. A three-year spell at J Murphy where he was involved in delivering power and construction civils projects broadened his experience before he left in 2015 to join Dyer & Butler as Senior Contracts Manager.
During his time at Falco Simon has successfully delivered over 130 Flip installations for Thames Water with a value in excess of £4m.
Responsibilities
As Frameworks Manager Simon is responsible for overseeing the delivery and performance of major framework contracts secured by Falco for Thames Water and UKPN. He is the main top-level contact with the client and will attend mobilisation, progress and other meetings. He reports directly to the Board.
Simon retains a hands-on presence by carrying out to site inspections and audits and liaising with operations team regularly to assist with planning and client/stakeholder relations. Simon also estimates and produces programme resources for all major projects for Falco.
