Background
Matt Joined Falco in 2009 as Team Leader/Ganger and worked his way up through the ranks to become Contracts Manager in 2015 in recognition of his leadership and managerial qualities.
Matt has over 24 years’ experience in the construction and civils sectors having started his career at P Bennett Foundations in 1995 before moving on to Kent-based Andel Plant. Since then, he has worked in various capacities for FM Conway, Ward & Thomas, and J Murphy before joining Falco.
During his early years at Falco Matt honed his skills in the discipline of deep excavation, focussing on facilitating the installation and maintenance of underground utility infrastructure for UKPN.
Since 2014 he has transferred these skills and experience as a Project Manager working alongside Skanska to provide and maintain the Electrical network in London and the surrounding area for UK Power Networks and to the water sector helping to deliver a £2.5 million contract to install FLIPs at Counters Creek FLIPs for Principal Contractor MGJV. Matt was instrumental in delivering the project on-budget and on-programme and receiving 24 customer commendations in the process, mainly for efficiency and customer care.
Matt also helped to complete a £1.2 million project on behalf of Dunamis at Purfleet Power to provide two 11kv High Voltage circuits to enable power from a 33kv Substation to an 11kv Substation to facilitate a Gas Generation Plant.
Responsibilities
As Contracts Manager Matt is responsible for delivering contracts on-time, on-programme, and to-budget. It is a multi-disciplined role which requires him to take hands-on involvement in the full lifecycle from planning i.e., arranging scoping/surveys, applying for licences and permits, conducting risk assessments and preparing method statements and resourcing, to overseeing the work, coordinating temporary works, auditing, attending progress meetings, client, and stakeholder liaison.
Matt has considerable experience as a Site Agent for electrical installations projects which include high voltage power cabling. He was involved in our 6-month project in Purfleet to create a 6-way duct run beneath the QEII Bridge where we facilitated the installation of two 11kv High Voltage circuits six 630 sqm XLPE electric cables to enable power generated from a gas Generated power Station to be transferred back to the network via the 11kv Primary Sub Station. As Site Agent Matt selected and assembled our multi-disciplined team which carried out the enabling works, as well as overseeing the procurement and site health and safety.
