Brendan established Falco in June 2005. He remains the company’s Managing Director and driving force, having taken it from a virtual standing-start to tier-1 contractor status, employing over 150 staff with a turnover in excess of £15 million.
His success has drawn upon the experience of over 30 years spent in the utilities/construction sectors. He started his career in 1983 as an apprentice
carpenter/joiner for the Harpenden-based contractor Jarvis Limited. Whilst working at Bonner & Cook in Bedford he studied at Luton University gaining Chartered Status, MCIOB, in 1994.
That year he made his move into the utilities sector, joining Brophy, a subsidiary of Thames Water renamed Subterra, which specialised in groundworks to facilitate maintenance and repair of the water infrastructure. He worked his way up from Site Engineer to Site Agent and Contracts Manager during his 11 years at the Thames Water contractor before leaving in 2005 to set-up his own company.
Brendan remains a hands-on presence in the company’s day-to-day operations, able and willing to apply his experience to provide guidance and assistance. He oversees the tendering process for major contracts and is in daily contact with other Directors and senior managers, maintaining a constantly updated knowledge of current work performance.
In his role as MD, he is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of corporate policy and procedures as well as Falco’s health and safety management system. Other roles include expansion of the corporate client base and procurement of new work.
