Following our success in securing the renewal of our UK Power Networks contract we have invested in our commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2035 with a new consignment of zero-emission mini-excavators.
In June we took delivery of fifteen new fully-electric Takeuchi TB20e models to add to the two we have been trialling over the last 2 years. These excavators deliver zero carbon emissions and are much quieter than diesel powered engines which is a huge advantage when working in urban environments such as the City of London where noise restrictions are enforced during parts of the normal working day.
In addition the diggers have both on-board and off-board charging capability and can be plugged into a standard UK supply which can deliver up to 80% charge in just 6 hours. Off-board fast charging requires a 3-phase supply but achieves 80% charge in 2 hours. A full charge delivers sufficient power for 2-3 days of operating making them an ideal choice for utilities excavation activities.
In conjunction with supply chain we have developed a bespoke trailer tailored to the specifics of this excavator with safety at the fore front. An innovation has been to introduced with a bespoke milometer for the trailer to fine-tune our inspection and maintenance regime.
Each excavator is also fitted with human-form recognition sensors to the front and rear to ensure the safety of all. They come with factory fitted check valves and lifting alarm making them ideal for controlled lifting operations.
In August 2025 we were awarded for our collaboration with UKPN at the Environmental Innovation Award at the City of London’s Considerate Contractors Street works scheme.
